Fussy Eating

Throughout 40 years of nannying I found that children are rarely as fussy as they allow their parents to believe.
Winifred (Professional Nanny ~ 32 children!)

Holidays Don’t Panic.…

I like to get away from home to actually see my children – I spend my whole time at home feeling guilty that I don't do this and I don't do that. In my busy periods I do find myself thinking, well at least next week we will be on holiday.
Susie (1 son & 2 daughters ~ 9, 12 & 14)

Wot - No Party Bags …

I have always been averse to party bags and have always tried to make the kids at the party "work for their goodies". I can't bear it when you have a queue of children just waiting to be handed a bag of presents.
Vanessa (1 son & 2 daughters ~ 8,10 & 12)

Is Your Room Tidy

Jennie (2 daughters ~ 12 & 15)

Pocket Money

I’m not very good at pocket money, it’s a bit willy nilly. Each of the children is supposed to get pocket money on a Saturday but we forget to give it to them, and they forget to ask.
Susie (1 son & 2 daughters ~ 9,12 & 14)

I’m not going to ask you again

I’m an Army officer, at any one time I can issue orders to hundreds of adult men and they will instantly do exactly what I say. But I can’t get a five year old to turn off the television or eat his vegetables. It drives me to the point of madness!”
Phil (3 sons ~ 5, 7 and 10)

Toddler tantrums to teenage tempers

Some evenings I feel like I’ve weathered a hurricane, and I only have them from 3pm until bedtime. I just can’t get them to obey me unless I jump up and down and shout and scream and I hate it.
Anon (2 daughters and 1 son ~ 7,9 & 12)

Boney M made me a better parent

Try it - whenever your children’s behaviour is threatening to get the better of your patience, sing the following lyrics to yourself. I defy anyone not to immediately regain a sense of proportion………….
Anon (Twin daughters ~ 5)
